Note: The chapel’s burial register gives Charlotte’s age at death as 66 not 76 as inscribed on her headstone. This is backed up by a variety of records (including the Baptist Chapel registers) so indicates a possible 'typo' on her headstone which gives her aged at her death as 76.

Charlotte White was born in 1809 to John and Mary (nee Bucket), She was baptised at Boldre church on 16th July 1809.

She married John Prince on 4th June 1831, aged 21. They had five children together over the next 22 years. Chapel records show that in 1835 Charlotte and John were proposed as candidates for church membership and were baptised to become members of the church.

The 1841 census shows the couple living with their children Charles (7) and Frances (Fanny 4) with John working as an agricultural labourer.

By 1851 Charlotte and John are living at Bouverie Farm with four children. John and 17 year old son Charles are both working as agricultural labourers. Charles was baptised to become a member of the chapel's congregation in 1857.

Regular attendance at Sunday services was required of the chapel's members. At a meeting of the chapel's members John, Charlotte and Charles were excluded for non-attendance at the Lords table. Charlotte and John were restored to membership in 1864.

The couple and their three youngest children were still at Bouverie Farm in 1861 with John and 15 year old son James working on the farm. Son Charles and daughter Frances have married and moved away. In 1871, Charlotte and John are living at Bouverie Green with John working as a woodman.

Charlotte died in East Boldre at the age of 67. She was buried by the Rev John Bartlett Burt on 9th May 1877.

(After Charlotte's death, husband John married Jane Rawlence in 1879 and they lived with her brother George at Hatchet Gate).
